Piano Studio Field Trips

Field trips are a great way to strengthen our piano community, experience live music, and make friends with other students who love piano. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from each event. I will attend both concert field trips, but I will not be able to attend UCO Piano Day. Here’s what’s on the schedule for this semester:

Rhapsody in Blue with Orchestra

October 13 at 7:30pm
Free admission
Mitchell Hall Theater - UCO campus, Edmond

Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue is one of the most famous and instantly recognizable works for piano and orchestra, and hearing it performed live with a full orchestra is a rare treat! The pianist, UCO piano faculty member David Forbat, was my own piano teacher at UCO. I performed the solo piano version of Rhapsody in Blue for my senior recital in college, so this piece is very dear to me.

This is a great opportunity for students to dress up, enjoy a special night out, and experience top-level live music together.

Alexandre Dossin in Concert

November 5 at 7:30pm
Free admission
Radke Recital Hall - UCO in Edmond (same as our recital venue)

Alexandre Dossin is an internationally acclaimed concert pianist whom Martha Argerich has called an “extraordinary musician.” A major international competition prizewinner and Steinway Artist, he has performed and recorded extensively around the world and currently serves as Professor of Piano and Chair of Keyboard at the University of Oregon.

This is a wonderful chance for students to hear a world-class pianist perform live and experience what is possible at the highest level of piano playing.

UCO Piano Day

November 20 from 12:00pm -7:00pm
High School Students Only
Free admission
UCO in Edmond

For high school students who are serious about piano or curious about studying music in college, UCO Piano Day is a chance to experience what being a college piano student is actually like. Students will participate in a piano ensemble session and faculty master class, tour the UCO campus, meet other young pianists, enjoy a complimentary dinner, and attend the UCO Piano Division concert.

Students will need to miss school to attend, and I will not be able to attend this event, so transportation and participation will need to be arranged by each family.
