2026-2027 Piano Lab

Piano Lab combines individualized instruction with built-in practice time, helping students make meaningful progress even when home practice is inconsistent.

Many students understand concepts during their lesson, but struggle to find time to practice during the week. Piano Lab solves this problem by building practice directly into the lesson experience.

How It Works

Students attend a 40-minute Piano Lab each week.

During each session, students rotate between:

  • 20 minute private lesson

  • 20 minute independent practice or warm-up time

This allows students to:

  • Practice new concepts immediately before they are forgotten

  • Warm up before their lesson and arrive prepared to learn

  • Reinforce assignments while they are still fresh

  • Develop greater independence and responsibility at the piano

Why Choose Piano Lab?

Built-In Practice Time

For many students, finding time to practice at home is the biggest obstacle to progress. Piano Lab ensures that focused practice happens every week.

More Efficient Lessons

Students can use their independent time to warm up, review assignments, and prepare questions, allowing lesson time to be spent more effectively.

Stronger Retention

Students have an opportunity to immediately apply new concepts rather than waiting several days until their next practice session.

Increased Independence

Students learn how to work productively at the piano without constant supervision, an important skill for long-term musical growth.

Who Is Piano Lab For?

Piano Lab is an excellent fit for:

  • Students with busy schedules who struggle to find consistent practice time at home

  • Students who need additional accountability

  • Students who benefit from having dedicated weekly practice built into their schedule

It is also a great option for students who enjoy piano but want a lower-pressure commitment while continuing to make steady progress.

Tuition

Piano Lab meets weekly for 40 minutes.

Personalized Recommendation

Based on what I know about your child’s goals, needs, and practice habits, I’ll recommend the best format for them. However, the final decision is entirely up to you and your student—what matters most is that you both feel confident and excited about the journey ahead! Selections can be made on the enrollment form below.

Scheduling Information

Scheduling will happen in segments this year. Those who have taken summer lessons will be scheduled first. After private lessons are set, we’ll schedule Piano Lab hours around them. Students will be grouped, whenever possible, with others of a similar age and skill level to create a productive learning environment. Siblings may also elect to share the same 40-minute session for scheduling convenience.
