Gem Gather

Gem Gather
Gem Gather is a simple, hands-on game where students roll the dice and move along both the keyboard and the staff, reinforcing the relationship between the two through repeated, playful movement. Teachers can spot where reading or processing confusion shows up on the staff in a relaxed setting where it can be corrected naturally through play.
The game keeps attention on how the staff and keyboard move together, reinforcing all the G placements on the staff as landmark notes and supporting stepwise movement between them
Gem Gather can be used in one-on-one lessons (teacher vs. student) or in small group settings. The setup is simple and the rules are adaptable, making it easy to adjust for different ages and levels. As long as students understand how to move by step on the staff, the game can be played with any student.
This printable includes clear setup instructions, basic rules, and variation ideas so you can use it right away in your studio.

Gem Gather was created around the idea of students physically moving notes on the staff as they play. That movement can be created in many ways, whether with magnetic notes, paper and pencil, or simple materials you already use in your studio. However you choose to set it up, the goal is the same: keeping note reading active, visual, and musical.
